Falmouth SPD students have been working with their Hong Kong partners to create sustainable designs that complement the M&S homeware product range.
Students were asked to take up design challenges to promote sustainable and user focused designs targeted towards their customers. Ideas can relate to emerging digital lifestyles, lighting or products that enable a sustainable way of living.
The project brief enabled students to explore and practice product design via a broader global, social and ecological context and work in design teams with international partners.
Regular distance interactive communication between design teams in Falmouth and Hong Kong has taken place. Skype meetings facilitated working together, idea generation, discussions and shared presentations to transpire across the globe.
We are awaiting the results of the competition and prize giving. Funded internships will be awarded to 2 students in Falmouth and Hong Kong with Marks and Spencer’s Head Office. The internships will include placements with M&S departments and key relevant partners in their supply chains.
